ABOUT ANIMAL HEALING...

HEALING - transmitting or channelling healing energy, has been found to be very beneficial to animals and can help with a variety of physical and behavioural conditions. When healing is given to an animal in this way, either as a stand alone therapy or in conjunction with traditional treatments, it can speed up the recovery process, ease anxiety and trauma, and provide comfort during times of stress or pain. Unlike humans, animals have no expectation or anticipation of a result, and therefore receive and respond to the transmission of energy unconditionally.

Animals and pets of all types can receive healing, but it is necessary to bear in mind that certain criteria have to be followed when seeking alternative methods of treatment for them. Before allowing an alternative practitioner to treat your pet/animal, you should first of all seek a diagnosis from a qualified veterinary surgeon. Energy healing, such as spiritual healing, Reiki etc, is recognised by the RCVS* and may be freely given to animals, either by the 'laying on of hands' or as distance healing. However, all other types of complementary therapy, eg acupuncture, homeopathic or herbal remedies, can only legally be administered by a qualified vet. Manipulative therapies eg. osteopathy, can be carried out as 'physiotherapy', and is popular for larger animals such as horses, but in all cases you should seek permission from your vet first, before allowing any treatment to be given.
