I pursued my love of plants and qualified
as a Medical Herbalist in 1998,
after a research career in bioscience.
Whilst studying Herbal Medicine,
I served an apprenticeship at Napiers Herbalists
in Edinburgh, one of the oldest herbal houses
in the UK.
On qualifying, I became a Member
of The National Institute of Medical Herbalists
(MNIMH). In 2004, I trained as a clinical
aromatherapist, using essential
oils in combination with massage to enhance
well-being.
I work with patients to help raise awareness
of their own health and wellbeing. I
find plant medicines a powerful tool to
change poor health.
I practice from my dispensary
and also at two multidisciplinary practices in
Ruthin and Flint.
I see patients of all ages, from
infants to the elderly and those with chronic
health problems. I have a particular
interest in treating digestive problems,
women's health problems and chronic
fatigue. |

ABOUT AROMATHERAPY...
AROMATHERAPY is one of the
most popular therapies today, and possibly one of the most soothing.
The therapeutic qualities of plant oils were discovered in the
early 1900s by a French chemist, Rene Gattefosse, whilst working
in his laboratory. When he accidentally burnt his hand, he plunged
it into a bowl of lavender oil nearby and noticed how quickly
it healed afterwards, with little scarring. From this, he continued
to develop what became Aromatherapy as we know it today.
A variety of oils are used in Aromatherapy. These are made from
the concentrated essences of different plants, which have been
carefully extracted. These oils can be used on their own or blended
with others to treat various complaints in different ways. Inhaling
the aroma through your nose can have a beneficial effect on your
mood - a relaxing oil can help you unwind if you're feeling tense,
or a stimulating oil can give you a lift if you're feeling tired
or depressed.
Using Aromatherapy with massage is the most common way of using
the essential oils, and they are usually diluted with a carrier
oil before use. These oils are then absorbed through the skin,
bringing healing benefits to the body. Aromatherapy is generally
very safe, but as the essential oils can be quite powerful they
need using with care. Also, certain oils are unsafe to use during
pregnancy. A qualified aromatherapist should be able to assess
your needs and use the right combination of oils to promote healing
and restore a feeling of well-being.

| Disclaimer:
The Therapists Directory on this website is designed
primarily to provide a space where holistic health professionals
and healers can advertise their work. Whilst certain general criteria
have to be fulfilled before being given a listing on our site,
the fact that a therapist or practitioner's details are on display
here does not imply any personal or professional recommendation
by Holistic Promotions. We accept the details offered to us by
each practitioner in good faith - that includes relevant qualifications,
memberships/registrations etc. and confirmation that they are
insured to practice. Each practitioner listed should be happy
to show you evidence of all these things if you ask them - which
we advise you to do at the first appointment or sooner, for your
own peace of mind. We can accept no responsibility for the action,
behaviour or malpractice of any practitioner listed on this site.
Information about therapies shown on these pages is for general
interest and guidance only, and is not intended to replace professional
healthcare advice. As this directory is purely an advertising
medium for holistic health practitioners, we do not offer an information
service, and are unable to answer enquiries about specific therapies,
training, etc. If you need further information, please contact
the relevant listed practitioners, or Therapy Associations,
Councils or Regulatory bodies - many of which you will
find listed on our ADDRESSES
& INFO page.
