ABOUT COLOUR THERAPY...

COLOUR THERAPY is a system of vibrational healing that uses colour to balance the body's energy systems to help relieve and prevent ill health.

Colour is a property of light - electromagnetic energy produced by the sun in different wavelengths. Everything we see is light broken down into different frequencies, being absorbed and reflected off the objects surrounding us. All matter has a vibrational frequency, and as human beings we're made up of a complex system of energy vibrations that flow through us, emanate from us and interact with our surroundings. If our normal vibratory frequencies become disrupted, this can affect our physical, mental or emotional health.

Colour therapists believe that the organs and energy centres within the body (chakras,) each vibrate to a differerent specific colour, and that by applying that colour to the corresponding area of the body, it can be restored to its correct vibration. For example, the colour red, which is a low frequency colour, is associated with the base or root chakra, and can be used to warm and stimulate the body's physical energy levels. Violet, a higher vibrational colour, is associated with the Crown chakra at the top of the head, and is often used in meditation or for spiritual cleansing.

Colour Therapists use a variety of techniques, firstly to establish the cause of a condition by finding where the imbalances are in the energy system, and then offer a range of tools to restore that balance. These can include coloured light, crystals, plant essences, colour reflexology, coloured scarves, art, music, visualisation and colour breathing exercises. The aim is to restore a harmonious state of balance in our vibrations which should reflect in the disappearance of the outward physical or mental condition.

COLOUR PUNCTURE (or Colour Light Therapy) was developed by German scientist and naturopath Peter Mandel, after more than 25 years of research. A Colour Puncture treatment involves focusing coloured light on the acupuncture points and reflex zones on the body, in a set sequence, using a special hand held tool. The specific zones used relate to either the physical, mental or emotional body, depending on the health problem. Scientists now believe that our cells communicate with each other using light as a medium. As the coloured light finds its way along the meridians or energy pathways within the body, the communication between the cells is stimulated, healing is promoted and the body's energy systems become more balanced.

AURA-SOMA® is popular method of using colour for healing and personal development. Originated by Vicky Wall in the 1980s, the Aura-Soma colour system includes over 100 bottles of special twin coloured liquids which, depending on the colours selected, can help to reveal a person's soul purpose and offer other spiritual insights. The coloured liquids are made in a special way using crystals, plants, minerals and oils, and capture the vibrational essence of colour as liquid light. When shaken, they can be applied directly to the skin, mixed with special creams, or sprayed into the air around the body to balance the aura.
