Sometimes difficulties experienced in the present
or the past, or worries about the future, may
prevent you from enjoying life.
As a qualified, experienced person-centred
counsellor, I can provide a safe, confidential,
non-judgemental and supportive environment in
which you can talk openly about your
issues, be listened to and fully heard.
I will help you to..
..explore issues that are having
a negative impact on your life.
..understand your thoughts,
feelings and behaviours around these issues.
..consider choices, implement
changes, or simply make some sense out of confusion.
..develop strategies and new
perspectives that help you feel better equipped
to lead a fulfilling and satisfying life.
At the heart of my counselling practice
is the belief that we can all make changes
in our lives and deal with difficult
feelings and situations if offered help
and support, within a warm, sensitive,
respectful therapeutic relationship. |

ABOUT COUNSELLING...
COUNSELLING is a way for you to talk about
and explore your feelings in a safe and confidential environment,
something you may find difficult or impossible to do with family
or friends. Counsellors are trained to listen, support and assist
you in your desire to make positive changes in your life, without
judgement, criticism or attempting to influence you towards
a particular course of action.
Although Counselling may be offered within many holistic professions
as an integral part of their service (sometimes referred to
as spiritual counselling), this usually refers to the use of
listening skills and intuitive responses, relating to the client's
soul purpose, life choices or difficulties encountered with
spiritual beliefs.
The commonly understood term Counselling, however, generally
refers to the therapy offered by highly trained professional
counsellors, which is often integrated with Psychotherapeutic
practices as a way of resolving difficulties. Whereas Psychotherapy
may be beneficial for people with deeper, ongoing problems,
Counselling may be more suitable in the short term, perhaps
helping you to deal with a recent emotionally painful episode
such as bereavement, the break up of a relationship, or losing
a job.
This is only a general guideline however, and Counselling sessions
can last over a longer period of time if necessary, depending
on the issues that arise.
By creating the space for you to talk freely and release any
bottled up feelings you may have, such as grief, anger, anxiety
or guilt, counselling can help you better understand these feelings,
where they are coming from and what triggers them off. A trained
Counsellor will listen in an attentive and supportive way, to
try and gain an understanding of your point of view, and by
helping you to work through your problems as they surface, you
begin to see things from a different and more positive perspective.
Regular commitment to attending Counselling sessions is a part
of the process, and sessions are generally held at least once
a week - this allows the relationship between the client and
the counsellor to develop into one of confidence and trust.
Counsellors undergo different types of training, and employ
various methods of working within their profession. These can
these include Person-Centred Counselling, Behavioural and Cognitive
therapies, plus many more, and one type might be more suitable
than another for a particular problem.
To find out which method best meets your requirements, or for
in-depth explanations about Counselling and related therapies,

Disclaimer:
The Therapists Directory on this website is
designed primarily to provide a space where holistic health
professionals and healers can advertise their work. Whilst certain
general criteria have to be fulfilled before being given a listing
on our site, the fact that a therapist or practitioner's details
are on display here does not imply any personal or professional
recommendation by Holistic Promotions. We accept the details
offered to us by each practitioner in good faith - that includes
relevant qualifications, memberships/registrations etc. and
confirmation that they are insured to practice. Each practitioner
listed should be happy to show you evidence of all these things
if you ask them - which we advise you to do at the first appointment
or sooner, for your own peace of mind. We can accept no responsibility
for the action, behaviour or malpractice of any practitioner
listed on this site.
Information about therapies shown on these pages is for general
interest and guidance only, and is not intended to replace professional
healthcare advice. As this directory is purely an advertising
medium for holistic health practitioners, we do not offer an
information service, and are unable to answer enquiries about
specific therapies, training, etc. If you need further information,
please contact the relevant listed practitioners, or Therapy
Associations, Councils or Regulatory bodies - many
of which you will find listed on our ADDRESSES
& INFO page. |
