As well as qualifying in structural
osteopathy, I undertook postgraduate training
in cranial osteopathy, and use
both according to a patient's needs.
Although I treat adults I have a special
interest in treating babies and
children, and hold the Postgraduate Diploma
in Paediatric Osteopathy (DPO).
I have extensive experience of
treating a broad range of conditions in babies and
children, and have worked with premature
babies in the intensive care & neonatal
unit of a London hospital.
I have had great results treating Autism,
ADHD, dyspraxia, cerebral palsy, and other learning
difficulties, as well as fractious and colicky babies,
feeding difficulties, glue ear and problems
arising from the birth process.
I also treat expectant mothers
for heartburn, symphysis pubis disorder and general
aches and pains of pregnancy, and offer
mother and baby checks, working closely
with midwives and health visitors.

ABOUT CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY...
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY is a subtle and powerful system
of healing that can be used to both restore and maintain good health.
The term 'Craniosacral' corresponds to the areas focused on - the
head, spinal column and the sacrum, located at the base of the spine,
including the associated membranes, connective tissue and nervous
system, which all make up the craniosacral system.
Based on the findings of an American doctor, William Sutherland,
in the early 1900s, and further developed in the 1970s by John Upledger,
an American osteopath, this therapy focuses on the relationship
between subtle rhythmic movements in the membranes of the head and
vertebral column, and the state of our physical, mental or emotional
health.
In a healthy person, normal, regular movements can be observed in
the craniosacral areas, but if there is a restriction or absence
of these movements, it can indicate a reduction in the body's self
healing abilities or dysfunction elsewhere in the body. It has been
found to be beneficial for a whole spectrum of conditions including:
headaches and migraine, neck and back pain, jaw and bite problems,
brain or spinal injury, stress, tension and trauma, joint mobility,
immune disorders, chonic tiredness, learning disabilities and many
more. In fact, it can be used to treat practically any condition,
mental, physical or emotional, and even in a healthy person can
help to increase energy levels, boost the immune system and assist
in managing day to day stress more effectively.
A Crainiosacral Therapy session involves the client usually lying
down, or sometimes sitting, fully clothed on a therapy bed. The
therapist will then use a light touch to make contact with the head
and body, and will effectively use their hands to 'sense' where
there are any restrictions in movement, which may be creating problems
elsewhere in the system. A deep feeling of relaxation is often experienced
throughout the session.
As
this treatment is very gentle and non invasive, it is regarded as
one of the safest therapies and can be experienced by anyone, from
babies to the elderly or very frail. Craniosacral Therapists will
normally undergo training for at least two years, have an understanding
of psychotherapeutic techniques, and work within a professional
code of practice.

Disclaimer:
The Therapists Directory on this website is designed
primarily to provide a space where holistic health professionals
and healers can advertise their work. Whilst certain general criteria
have to be fulfilled before being given a listing on our site, the
fact that a therapist or practitioner's details are on display here
does not imply any personal or professional recommendation by Holistic
Promotions. We accept the details offered to us by each practitioner
in good faith - that includes relevant qualifications, memberships/registrations
etc. and confirmation that they are insured to practice. Each practitioner
listed should be happy to show you evidence of all these things
if you ask them - which we advise you to do at the first appointment
or sooner, for your own peace of mind. We can accept no responsibility
for the action, behaviour or malpractice of any practitioner listed
on this site.
Information about therapies shown on these pages is for general
interest and guidance only, and is not intended to replace professional
healthcare advice. As this directory is purely an advertising medium
for holistic health practitioners, we do not offer an information
service, and are unable to answer enquiries about specific therapies,
training, etc. If you need further information, please contact the
relevant listed practitioners, or Therapy Associations,
Councils or Regulatory bodies - many of which you will
find listed on our ADDRESSES
