ABOUT CRYSTAL THERAPY...

CRYSTAL THERAPY (or Crystal Healing) is a type of energy healing where various crystals are placed on or around the body, to bring about deep relaxation and promote inner balance.

Crystals and minerals are powerful and effective tools for healing as they each have their own unique structure and vibration, which gives them the ability to affect our electromagnetic energy fields. The energetic qualities of crystals range from being very gentle to very powerful, and they can be used for energising or calming, uplifting or grounding, cleansing or protecting.

We each have numerous energy centres located within our bodies, the main ones being the seven major chakras, all of which vibrate at different frequencies, yet in harmony with the other. If the balance of these centres is adversely affected, this can later manifest as physical illness or other conditions. Crystal therapists believe that certain crystals vibrate to the corresponding frequencies of our chakras and surrounding energy fields. When applied to specific areas of the body it is thought that they help to re tune the chakras to vibrate at the correct frequency, enabling the body to heal itself.

There are many thousands of crystals which can be used in crystal therapy - but therapists will generally use up to a hundred for healing purposes. Different crystals are believed to help with different physical, mental or emotional conditions. As every person is unique, a trained crystal therapist will take into account more than just the physical symptoms, and will tailor the treatment to the individual needs of the client. Therefore, the choice and positioning of crystals will vary from person to person.

A crystal therapy session generally lasts around an hour, and involves the client lying down fully clothed on a therapy couch. The therapist will encourage you to relax, assess where any blockages or imbalances occur in the system, and will then place various crystals on or around the body, either singly or in specific patterns. The location of the crystals may correspond with the positions of the chakras, specific points on the body's meridians (energy pathways,) or where there is a source of pain or discomfort.

A crystal therapy treatment can be deeply relaxing, help to release negative emotions, and bring about a sense of balance and wellbeing. Although a therapy in its own right, it is often incorporated with other healing modalities such as Reiki, Colour Therapy and other types of energy healing.
