Our Holistic Therapists’ Directory is designed to provide advertising space where holistic health professionals and healers can promote their work online.
Whilst we try to maintain a good standard of listings on the site, the fact that a therapist or practitioner's details are on display, does not imply any personal or professional recommendation by us
(Holistic Promotions). We accept the details offered to us by each practitioner in good faith - that includes their therapy qualifications, memberships/ registrations etc.
Each of our listed practitioners should be happy to provide evidence of their stated qualifications & professional memberships, plus relevant insurance cover if required - which we suggest you ask
to see at the first appointment or sooner, for your own peace of mind. We are not responsible for any actions, behaviour or claims made by the therapists/ practitioners listed on this site.
Information about therapies shown in our Therapists’ Directory is for general interest and guidance only, and is not intended to replace professional healthcare advice.
Although a basic guide to each therapy is included for reference, we do not offer a general information service, and are unable to answer inquiries about specific therapies, health conditions, or
recommend any types of treatment etc. If you need further information about any therapies or healing modalities, please contact the relevant listed practitioners,
or the therapy specific Associations, Councils or Regulatory bodies - most of which you will find listed on our Useful Contacts page.
Homeopathy, from the Greek words 'homeo' meaning similar, and 'pathos'
meaning suffering, originated thousands of years ago in Ancient Greece, but the
gentle system of homeopathic healing widely used today was developed in
Germany in the late 18th century, by the German physician and chemist Samuel
Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating 'like with like', through a
system of specially prepared natural remedies.
Hahnemann discovered that if a person with an illness was given a very minute
dose of a substance, which if taken in a larger dose by a healthy person would
develop the same illness, the body's own natural defences could be stimulated
into healing itself.
Homeopathic remedies are derived from either plant, mineral
or animal sources, and are prepared in a series of steps,
diluting the original substance to create a potent energy
medicine. According to homeopathy, this retains its original
healing qualities no matter how many times it is diluted.
The remedies usually take the form of tablets, which are dissolved in the
mouth, but can also be in powder or liquid form.
Homeopathic treatment is tailored specifically to each individual, aimed at
treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms.
A Homeopathic practitioner will therefore need to make a detailed assessment
of you on your first visit, taking into account how you feel, both physically and
emotionally, your lifestyle, habits, energy levels and past medical history.
This will enable them to select the best remedy, or remedies, for your particular
condition. These remedies may also be changed over subsequent visits,
depending on how you respond to the initial treatment.
Homeopathy can be used widely for many conditions, both acute and chronic,
and is generally regarded as a very safe, non toxic, complementary system of
health care, without the risk of side effects or addiction that often accompanies
Homeopaths will normally prescribe for anyone of any age, including babies,
children and pregnant women.
