ABOUT IRIDOLOGY...
Iridology, or the study of the iris - the coloured part of the eye,
is not in itself a treatment, but is used alongside other health
care practices as a way of diagnosing the state of health in the
body.
The practice of reading the iris for medical purposes has been around
for thousands of years, dating back to Ancient Greece, but was more
recently extensively researched in the 1800s by a doctor from Hungary,
Ignatz von Peczely, who developed the Iris Chart.
A trained iridologist understands the different markings and textures
within the iris, which reveal changes and imbalances in the body,
indicating possible early signs of disease. In a similar way that
a reflexologist feels for problem areas through the reflex points
in the feet, an iridologist can 'read' the reflex nerve endings
in the iris, which are connected to the brain and the rest of the
body through the nervous system. This virtual map of the body effectively
provides useful information about a patient's health, organ function,
nutritional levels and much more.
Iridology is often used in conjuction with Naturopathy and Nutritional
Therapy, as a diagnostic tool before recommending a programme of
treatment. This may be one or a combination of options, such as
diet, detox therapy, herbal medicine, acupuncture, exercise, relaxation
techniques, etc.
It
also has a useful place in preventative health care, as changes
in the iris can act as an early warning system of when things are
starting to go wrong in the body, so we can then take steps to change
our lifestyle, and correct any imbalances before illness results.

| Disclaimer:
The Therapists Directory on this website is designed
primarily to provide a space where holistic health professionals
and healers can advertise their work. Whilst certain general criteria
have to be fulfilled before being given a listing on our site, the
fact that a therapist or practitioner's details are on display here
does not imply any personal or professional recommendation by Holistic
Promotions. We accept the details offered to us by each practitioner
in good faith - that includes relevant qualifications, memberships/registrations
etc. and confirmation that they are insured to practice. Each practitioner
listed should be happy to show you evidence of all these things
if you ask them - which we advise you to do at the first appointment
or sooner, for your own peace of mind. We can accept no responsibility
for the action, behaviour or malpractice of any practitioner listed
on this site.
Information about therapies shown on these pages is for general
interest and guidance only, and is not intended to replace professional
healthcare advice. As this directory is purely an advertising medium
for holistic health practitioners, we do not offer an information
service, and are unable to answer enquiries about specific therapies,
training, etc. If you need further information, please contact the
relevant listed practitioners, or Therapy Associations,
Councils or Regulatory bodies - many of which you will
find listed on our ADDRESSES
& INFO page.
