ABOUT NUTRITIONAL THERAPY...
Food plays an important role in maintaining our energy levels, and
in keeping our whole system functioning correctly.
In an ideal world, we should be able to get all the essential nutrients
to support good health from a natural, balanced diet. In our modern
society however, we're increasingly dependent on convenience food,
ready meals from the supermarket - instant fast food on the go.
Even what we call 'fresh food' has often travelled hundreds of miles
before it reaches us, and has lost much of its vital energy. So
unless we're freshly preparing local and organically farmed produce
at every meal, it's difficult to obtain all the nutrients we need
for good health and vitality.
Also, modern food production and preparation includes the extensive
use of chemicals - pesticides, antibiotics, preservatives, artificial
flavourings and colour, all of which can affect the body's natural
balance. This can be further aggravated by regular intake of caffeine,
alcohol, recreational or prescription drugs, which can inhibit the
body's absorbtion of beneficial nutrients, and decrease it's ability
to eliminate unwanted chemicals from the system.
Over time, toxins and harmful waste products start to accumulate
in the body, which can lead to a number of health conditions such
as chronic fatigue, headaches, backache, depression, loss of energy,
insomnia, skin problems, asthma, allergies, and many more. Using
conventional medicine to treat this type of chronic condition only
treats the symptoms, and doesn't attempt to address the underlying
cause.
Nutritional Therapy is a holistic system of healing
designed to treat the whole mind and body system, and has the ability
to restore and maintain an optimum state of health and wellness.
It
is based on the understanding that food, in its purest state, is
our natural medicine, and can provide us with everything we need
to keep our systems functioning correctly.
A Nutritional therapist will take into account a lot more than just
your symptoms. They will ask you about your diet, lifestyle, general
fitness levels, moods and emotional changes, stress factors, past
medical history, and they may also carry out diagnostic tests for
such things as allergies or food intolerances.
The therapist will then provide you with a personalised programme
of nutritional therapy, tailored to your specific needs. This will
include advice about which foods you're most likely to benefit from,
and which to avoid. They may also recommend vitamin or mineral supplements
or natural remedies, detoxification techniques, and a possible change
in lifestyle... all of which are aimed at supporting the body's
natural healing ability, boosting the immune system, improving and
maintaining optimum health.
Nutritional Therapy can be used to treat people of all ages, including
babies and children, and can alleviate a wide range of conditions,
including digestive disorders, candida, IBS, weight problems, stress
and anxiety, behavioural problems in children, arthritis, infertility,
cravings and addictions, as well as those mentioned above.
Even if you're not suffering from a specific complaint, nutritional
therapy can also be of benefit if you want to maintain ongoing good
health and energy levels. A nutritional therapist can help you understand
the important relationship between diet and health, to enable you
to make the right choices on a day to day basis.

| Disclaimer:
The Therapists Directory on this website is designed
primarily to provide a space where holistic health professionals
and healers can advertise their work. Whilst certain general criteria
have to be fulfilled before being given a listing on our site, the
fact that a therapist or practitioner's details are on display here
does not imply any personal or professional recommendation by Holistic
Promotions. We accept the details offered to us by each practitioner
in good faith - that includes relevant qualifications, memberships/registrations
etc. and confirmation that they are insured to practice. Each practitioner
listed should be happy to show you evidence of all these things
if you ask them - which we advise you to do at the first appointment
or sooner, for your own peace of mind. We can accept no responsibility
for the action, behaviour or malpractice of any practitioner listed
on this site.
Information about therapies shown on these pages is for general
interest and guidance only, and is not intended to replace professional
healthcare advice. As this directory is purely an advertising medium
for holistic health practitioners, we do not offer an information
service, and are unable to answer enquiries about specific therapies,
training, etc. If you need further information, please contact the
relevant listed practitioners, or Therapy Associations,
Councils or Regulatory bodies - many of which you will
find listed on our ADDRESSES
& INFO page.
